Support for Parents and Children
Maple Ridge School has been accredited by the Hampshire Local Authority to provide an outreach service to mainstream schools in Basingstoke and Deane.
Outreach Service
Our aims:

To provide our local mainstream schools with specialist support to enable them to best meet the needs of their children/young people with SEND.

To support children/young people to thrive and fulfil their full potential within a mainstream setting.

To provide high-quality training.
The Outreach Team offer a warm and friendly referral-based service and can provide the following areas of support:

Liaison with SENCos, teachers and school staff to offer advice and strategies.

A planned programme of support.
-
Setting up the learning environment.
-
Curriculum differentiation.

Transition.
Training:
We also run training for school staff throughout the year. Training schedules will be distributed to all SENCOs at the start of the school year. Please email the Outreach team if you wish to receive another copy.
Outreach Agreement:

A referral form must be filled out (see link below).

An initial consultation is required to ascertain the best way to support your needs.

Verbal parental consent is required before we can visit a child in school.

Staff will need to be released from their timetable to receive feedback and support from the outreach team on the day of their visit.

Evidence must be shown that recommendations have been implemented between each visit.

School staff in receipt of outreach support are invited to attend a training session at Maple Ridge. This will include topics such as understanding visuals, TEACCH approach, engagement curriculum, sensory processing and emotional regulation.

Hampshire County Council will also require you to fill out an evaluation sheet after receiving outreach support.
The outreach service does not interact with parents, it’s the school’s responsibility to store and share information provided by the outreach team with parents.
We are unable to work with a child currently receiving support from Portage, Helen Tongue, PBS or where SEMH is the main area of need.
Resources Library:
Our resource library is open fortnightly, to all staff engaging in our outreach service. There is an annual fee of £20.00 which will go towards maintenance of equipment.
Staff are encouraged to borrow a wide variety of resources that include cause and effect toys, puzzles, games, workstation tasks and equipment for the use of interventions such as intensive interactions and identi-play.

Home / School Support
We have a very successful Home/School Service offering different levels of support to families.
SHIP (School Home Integrated Partnership) is part of the school’s Home/ School Service.
The aim is to support parents/carers and families of youngsters who have learning difficulties and behaviours that can be hard to manage and affect family life. This may include difficulties such as toileting, eating or sleep issues or challenging behaviour within the family. Our home school co-ordinator will get to know a child in both school and at home and any other setting to share strategies and provide resources to enable a consistent approach.
They will also liaise with other professionals such as social care, CAMHS, health professionals and any other agencies that may be involved with a child.
Our home school co-ordinator holds Family Information sessions each half-term on topics that are of interest to parents and families. Maple Ridge will also signpost parents/carers to other organisations or services that provide additional support.

Community Events :
Coffee Morning and Task Force
Jane Eales holds a meet every Thursday morning, from 9.30-12pm.
Come along for Tea, Coffee, biscuits, and a chance to chat to other parents.
Some of our parents also volunteer to laminate, cut and stick visual symbols, and work tasks for our children to support their communication and learning.
So, if you would like to join us on a Thursday, for a cuppa and chat, or to help with making resources, you would be very welcome.
Hampshire Parent Carer Network (HPCN) :
HPCN offers parents and carers of children and young people aged 0-25 with any additional needs, or disability, including mental health (diagnosed or undiagnosed) the opportunity to tell the Local Authority, Health and other services, what life is really like.
They use their lived-in experience to shape, challenge and ultimately improve services for our children and young people living in Hampshire. Professionals have a duty to listen to parents and carers and with HPCN your voice will be heard loud and clear.
