School Meals

At Maple Ridge, we have hot school meals prepared in our kitchen each day, which are provided by Hampshire County Council Catering Services (HC3S) and cost £2.80 per meal. From 5th June 2023 the cost will increase to £3.00 per meal. We are a NUT FREE school; we have staff and children in the school with life threatening allergies to nuts. Please do not send in any food containing nuts.

Since September 2014 all children in Year R, Year 1 and Year 2 have been entitled to school meals, free of charge, without any need to register. This is called Universal Free School Meals and has been put in place by the Government, who made the commitment to allocate schools with funding for all these meals.

There is a menu which runs on a 3-week rotation and children are given the option of either a meat or a non-meat meal (the children refer to this as Blue for meat, Green for non-meat). There is a special diet option if your child has any diagnosed food allergies, as well as menus that are adapted for religious/cultural reasons. If you require a special diet menu for your child, please contact the school office to find out more.

We do have a lot of children who vary between packed lunches and school meals, especially on certain days of the week, such as Pizza days and Roast dinner days, so please don't ever feel you have to commit.
